Fast Tent Facts
for August 20, 2005

What:The Tent Meeting (and it's air conditioned!)
Why:To worship, celebrate, and learn more about becoming One Church in Mission.
Where:Gray Center (in Madison County, off I-55)
When:Saturday, 20 August 2005 from about 10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
How Much?Event tickets should be purchased for $15 per person (regardless of age; families of 4 or more not to pay more than $60).
MusicLots! including special guests Dr. Horace Boyer and Mr. Fran McKendree. On Friday night, there is a special concert open to all featuring McKendree, Boyer, the Mt. Carmel M.B. Choir and some our favorite CBG musicians, including Patrick Sanders, Emily Maples, C.J. Meaders and Walton Jones.
Drama:John Maxwell presents acharacterization of invitation, transformation, reconciliation.
Food:A boxed lunch will be provided as a part of the $15 admission fee and will include a generous sandwich, chips and a cookie from Broad Street in Jackson, along with plenty of ice-cold water. Watermelon cutting to follow lunch. High tea, Mississippi-style to ease congestion during departures. All of this included in price of event ticket.
Liturgy:Of the word (Bishop's message and challenge) and Of the table (Eucharist and more)
Amenities:Air-conditioned main meeting tent, restrooms; handicapped parking; emergency medical personnel; nursery for children under 3 years.
Overnight:Limited space is available at Gray Center on first-come/first served basis for Saturday night; new hotels in Canton and Hilton/Jackson on County Line Road are offering special rates ($50-$80 if booked by July 1) to Tent Meeting goers.
Parking:The facility will be prepared for smooth arrivals and departers. Carpools, buses and vans are encouraged. Valet parking will be available for the physically challenged.
Children:Quality programming is planned for children in pre-k through 5th grade in structured, supervised, secure setting. Children will join parents during the lunch break.
Youth:Middle school and high school students will have a role in the tent meeting.
Families:Personal picnicking okay, but lunch is being provided and is covered by the event ticket of $15. Children will join parents during the lunch break.
Water:Each parish/diocesan ministry is encouraged to bring an offering of (unconsecreated) water for sharing in the liturgy as an outward and visible sign that we are One Church, One Body in Christ. Parish collection coordinated by local Water Bearer.
VolunteersEach parish is asked to identify two volunteers to assit with children's program and/or logistics. These names should be forwarded to Kelly Butler at kbutler@msreads.org or (601) 624-6066. A two-hour training for children's program volunteers
